Together is my favorite place to be

It's almost time to celebrate my favorite holiday with our family and so i am just sharing a quick card that i created using 2 more of the Candlewick Classics dies.  I used the Rectangle and the Oval for this card and die cut them out of some gorgeous papers from Frank Garcia and Prima.  This is a fun country set with some really pretty colors and roses of course.  The dies worked perfectly to frame the sentiment that i chose for the set.

One of my favorite things about Becca's dies is that they look so pretty with printed papers too.  The tiny details that she has in each of the dies that she designs always pop up center stage and for this die you can add pearls or something on those tiny little Candlewick dots or just leave them as they are.  For me i just added a pretty tiny silk ribbon and button and a few more pieces of the ephemera that come with the paper set.  This was a super easy card to put together and i am going to add this one to my box of saved cards for 2020.

Just to say I am thinking of You

Only 4 more days until Christmas Eve... are you almost ready for the big day?  I am doing really good this year and got alot done early so that i would have time to spend with my family.  And i also had the time to make up another card to put away for next year.  This one i just adore.  I used 3 of the new Candlewick dies by Becca Feeken for this one and layered them with a mix of solid and printed papers that went together really nicely.  

You have seen separate cards from all of these dies but how fun to layer all them don't you think?  I used the Candlewick Square on the base over the printed paper and then used the Candlewick Doily over that on pink with white card stock.  And over that i added the smaller Candlewick Circle to add my stamped image.  There is so much detail to all of these dies it didn't need much more to finish it then to add a pretty stamped image and a bow with a pretty pearl on it.  It's one of my favorites!

I just can't say enough about how beautiful and versatile these dies are.  It's really amazing how each of them gives your cards so much beauty with such little effort.  Just cut, emboss and layer them.

So Very Thoughtful and Very Thankful Card

Hi and thank you so much for stopping over today during this busy holiday season.  I still have a few things left to shop for but I am still creating some cards to keep in my special box to send out for the new year and today i have a card to share that i created using some of my 6x6 scraps and some ribbon and lace i had in my stash.  

The new die i picked for the front of my card is from Becca Feeken's newest release of Candlewick dies.  I used the circle today and just kept it really simple with layers of pretty printed papers and a thoughtful sentiment from a Penny Black set that i had.  

The card measures about 5 1/2x 5 1/2 so it will mail easily in a 6x6 envelope.  This one is perfect to send anytime of the year and i usually make up alot of these so i have some to send in a pinch.  Don't you just love that pretty pink rose paper?  Me too :)

December Die of the Month Blog Hop

Every now and again you need easy, right?  We've become a huge fans of slip-in cards.  They are cards that are cut partially inlaid so that you can simply slip a decorative panel into place and you're done.  This months Die of the Month is called Rose & Filigree Duo Slip in Card.

Your panel can be decorative, textured or simply a sentiment.  The partial inlay can be positioned just where you want it on your card from one side to another or midway.  It can even be used to make a gatefold card or an actual belly band.

You are all going to love using this die to make cards and fun things to send and give to your friends.  The dies are so delicate and you can use them so many ways and i so love that part of this set.  I used both of the decorative pieces on my card... one for the base and the other as a belly band to go over the center of it.  So easy and yet so pretty!

Here are the pieces of the die set above.  You get the slip in base and 2 decorative pieces that both have the backround pieces for them to use as a shadow or as belly bands.  The ends of them don't cut completely so they are fun to just cut out and wrap around something like what i did for my next project.

My Second Project for Today is:

For my second project i used the dies to cover a pre-made box that i had in my stash.  I thought this would be a perfect gift for Valentines or even a Mother's Day brunch to give a gift in for all your favorite moms and grandmothers. I just used both of the decorative pieces... one for around the base and the other to add more detail to the top of my box.... Again-- this was really easy to do too.

Becca Feeken's New Candlewick Rectangle

I hope that you have all had the chance to see Becca's newest addition to her Candlewick Sampler set that just came out and have also had the chance to maybe add a few to your collection.  Today i have a few more ideas to share for a little more inspiration with the new rectangles die set.

As we pick from the newest dies on the market, we often find that sometimes the best dies are the ones that you can use in simple ways and get the most milage from.  The newest candlewick dies each have a beautiful raised candlewick design pattern that gives you a rather an amazing result with very little effort.   And wow you really have to love that.

For my card i used the 2 largest sizes of the die and 2 shades of pink patterned paper to create a subtle shadow effect and really make the top piece pop more.  These 2 pieces i layered over light ivory cardstock so that the details of the die would stand out more and used 3D foam dots to separate the layers.   

I stamped the sentiment with a subtle brown ink and used a Penny Black stamp set from my stash.  And I kept it simple and used a piece of silk ribbon across the base and added a sweet bow at the side with a button that matches the ink that i chose for the sentiment.  And to finish it i just added a few small pearls on the top piece to make it just a little bit fancier.  So simple ... yet so pretty!

This is what the die set looks like.  You can make all the shapes that you see above and the base pieces to go under them or to create a back round.

And i also created this pretty gift box using the same die and added the new Candlewick Petticoats die for the front of it.  I love to make fancy boxes to put in little gifts and gift cards and this was really fun and easy to make using some great dotted paper and white cardstock to cut the dies from.

A Special Candlewick Thank you

Well with all these new Candlewick dies ready to use i had to see if i could come up with a card to use more than one and i think i did pretty good.  So I found some simple card stock that matched and  i used the Circle, the Oval and the new Doily Border to layer up a pretty Thank you card for a friend.

I really adore this border and it is going to be so fun to create with.  I also used it for a cute Halloween basket and the handles just a few weeks back so how fun would it be to use for a wedding or a baby shower favors and little baskets.  There are so many fun ideas....

And here is another example of just using the new border die to cut a sweet border into the bottom of your card.  These would be wonderful to make up for gift sets and maybe make them with different papers and sentiments on them.  These papers are from Prima and give you an idea of what printed papers will look like with this gorgeous new die.

Candlewick Doily Card

Today i have a share with one of my favorite new dies from Becca Feeken's new Candlewick Collection called "Doily Round Etched Die".  Since fall is in the air i decided to create my card with those gorgeous fall colors that you see everywhere in the trees and just a few pumpkins because those are my favorites.

As you can see below you get 3 pieces in this set and i used the larger solid base to start my card with the dies and then i added another one with the beautiful cut die that goes over it.  The papers are slightly mottled in color so I think it gave it a more rustic look and i really like that.  Besides it's always fun to try other things with your papers and see what happens.

And to finish i added some ribbons and a button and just a few matching pearls around the outside to make those tiny little Candlewick dots really pop.

I made a few more cards and projects with this die so be sure and check back all month for more inspiration in using these gorgeous new dies.

Introducing Candlewick Classics Blog Hop/Giveaway

Hi Friends, last month we introduced the "Candlewick Sampler Collection" and this month we are introducing a small companion collection that drives home that sweet Candlewick look.  We introduce these so that there is a central place you can see them and how they are used; we hope you will welcome "Candlewick Classics".  If you loved Hemstitch Classics like Hemstitch Rectangles then you'll love the individual new dies options in the 6 die collection.  These are basics you'll definitely want to have in your stash this year.

A Bit About Candlewick Classics

Nowhere does the candlewick look and feel come through more than on the Candlewick Classics.  It's a delicate look reminiscent of actual Candlewicking and punctuated by the rounded motifs that imply french knots.  Candlewick Classics are classic square, circle, oval and rectangle label shapes that are bordered with the candlewick motif in the most useful card making sizes.  They also mix and match with the Hemstitch Classics. 

What is Candlewicking?  Browse the google images found when searching "Candlewicking" and you will see that it is a type of whitework embroidery normally done on cream or white fabric embellished with cream or white french knots.  The series of french knots create the outlines of the pattern giving it a unique look while adding a touch of elegance.  In these dies, you can see rounded motifs that hint at the texture of dots.  Without overpowering, it's a sweet little detail present on all the dies in the collection.  Plus, it just happens to be the perfect spot to place a pearl.  Google candlewicking and you'll see exactly what we mean.

Today I'm introducing Candlewick Ovals S5-401

Candlewick Classics is another one of my favorite collections that was designed by Becca Feeken and for things like stamping or stickers these Oval dies are truly going to be a huge staple in your stash of dies to use.  I had an adorable stamp put away last year so this die was perfect to use for my card project today to send to my daughter this year.

My Projects For Today:

I really wanted to bring this die to life with lots of glamour so i used a base of pale pink and gold to start my card and then over that i layered the largest piece of the Candlewick oval over a white shadow of the same die.  Then inside that i stamped a pretty sentiment on pale ivory in black and carefully set that inside of the gold frame.  I used lots of rhinestones around the outside edges and added a simple pink ribbon bow with a handmade flower to match.  I really love this die !!

And for my Second Project:

For my second project i created a little basket with chipboard from my stash and covered the back and front with some beautiful Country papers that i found from Prima.  It has a dozen little matching cards in it that I made that can be sent for Thank you's, Hello or even a birthday.  But the best part is that they are all in one easy place to find them. And when you get really busy and need a quick card to send it's the best thing ever.....

I really love all the new classics dies and each of them can be used in so many ways.  This note caddy will be such a great gift for someone this year.

November Die of the Month Blog Hop

Christmas is on the horizon and of course, as makers, made Christmas Cards are our hallmark during the holidays.  This month's APG Die of the Month is Winters Solstice Snowflake.  It is a delicate doily looking snowflake done in a regal way to usher in the Holiday Season.

The Snowflake was designed by Becca but if you know her well, as a budget crafter, she intends for you to use the design year-round.  Her holiday offerings always can be dressed up for Holidays and dressed down for any other occasion and the same is true with Winters Solstice Snowflake.  

Our new die for the month of November is truly exceptional and as you can see above and will be able to see as you hop through all of our blogs.  There are so many gorgeous pieces that you can use in a lot of different ways.  Always think about separating them for other crafty endeavors or mixing them with your other APG dies too.  

My Project Today is a Winter Snowflake Calendar for your desk:

If you work in an office of any kind --a wonderful gift to get or give would be a pretty calendar to brighten up your desk for the season.  You will need a small calendar and 2 pieces of the largest piece of the die for the top and bottom for this project.  I did the top piece really fancy and kept the bottom simple since i have to add the calendar to it.  Be sure and add a piece of chipboard or thicker layer of cardstock to reinforce your piece to last.  And for the back create an easel with chipboard to help it stand up.  These would be really fun to make for each of the holidays too and just change the paper and theme.

My Second Project is a Vintage Thank you card:

And like i mentioned above-- just use one piece of the set to create an accent for a card or a box.  I only used the center piece for my card and created a little border to go across the center and then i wrapped it with peach silk ribbon to match and a few flowers and a sentiment.  The beautiful papers are from Graphic 45 and the simple cottage prints make the border look so pretty and vintage looking.
