New things to share

 This is my photo from day 7 of my class and since

everyone was doing these serene photos of snow-

I thought I would take this picture of the "quiet beauty"

of my snow scene in my house.  Since we don't have

much snow in sunny California besides up in the mountains,

 I thought I would snap this photo to remember my snow.

The lighting made the colors look old fashioned

and I really like it :)  I decided I am going to redo

an old recipe box I have and keep all my photos 

that I take each day and some journaling. I thought

my moma razi paper would be great but now I just

have to find it.... hmmmm ...could take awhile..... 

Anyway, taking this class has

really inspired me to think different about what i 

see in my world and should make for some pretty

fun pages and projects this year.... 

This is a page i just did with the New Crate Paper 

Valentines.  I have a cousin that shared some

photos of her recent wedding and thought it was

so awesome and had to scrap some pages of it.

The chipboard pieces are great for this line, there

is so much variety and great flowers.

I am going to put them all to good use in lots

of cards and pages for this year...

These Valentine papers are from TPC Studio and are 

super cute for more simple and monochromatic

pages.  I am creating some wall art to decorate the

house and thought this was perfect to do of my DH and I. 

I went out and got a few new things from Echo Park

and My Minds Eye today to work on so I will share those 

later this week.  Love all this Valentines paper----

and I am definitely going to lose some sleep creating

with the new things I got.

New Photo for my class

 For this photo we were asked to take

a picture of something soul searching or

touching with the thought that anything

is possible.. So what came to mind is

this simple cross that I got in an abbey in

Bologna Italy.  The church below is over

700 years old and it like the cross is

not fancy or ornate but simply stands

for a belief in God and a simple place to

worship with others who believe.

I took the photo of the cross on a simple piece
 of wood by the light of the window in the 

mid afternoon sun with no flash. I 

like the shadows and the simple way

the metal stands out but not in a 

glistening kind of way.

This old church was a place that totally took

my breath away.  Sometimes unexpected

things you find in your walk through life

leave with you with the deepest impression.

This is one of mine :)

New Photo Class

As the New Year begins- I  have decided to try and step out

of my comfort zone a little more and try some new things ..

like new classes, yoga, trying new recipes, 

getting more into the messy kind of art again and taking

lots of trips to see our world...

My first this year is starting a photo class on Big Picture.

Everyday we are given an assignment to go out and

see the world with our camera's in a different way. 

I hope that at the end I will take pictures a little better

and in a more interesting way and see not just the big

picture of life but all the tiny little things inside it too...

For this assignment we were supposed to go outside 

and see something that made us think of a breath of fresh air....

and my camelia bush is blooming and the sun was just setting for the day

 so i moved in close and tried to capture

 the delicate beauty of all the petals of this flower and all

the tiny veins of the leaves.  Nature is amazing isn't it :)

Huntington Beach

One of my favorite places to be is at the Huntington Beach Pier

 and yesterday we went for a bonfire

and they had the US Open Surfing Championships going on.  

Sadly i missed getting photos of the surfers this time but they had lots of

other things going on and a huge concert!!  It was so fun!

 This is a photo on one of the screens between the tents

and you can see why I hung out here!!  One word...gorgeous!!

 Ruby's on the pier is one of my favorite places

to eat... The view is awesome!!

 There were soooooo many people at the concert!!

As usual all the sand covered food

was great and there were so many

people at the pits by 9.  It was really, really nice

and a little chilly but sitting by the fire is 

great and the Semore's were the best!

 I am way late for 4th of July photos but just

remembered I had these and thought it would be

fun to share them.  We went down to Dana Point 

to visit with friends and spend a wonderful afternoon

at the beach and got to see some beautiful fireworks

 this year.  Someone was playing some patriotic music
 on a radio somewhere so it was pretty spectacular
 to see all the fireworks and all the boats out

on the water when they all lit up.  

We had a really, really wonderful day :)

A Really Fun day....

 So if you haven't gotten the chance to go to Mission Inn resort and spa you are in for a real treat!!!  I am going to sound like a commercial but this place is just gorgeous and a hidden treasure in Riverside California.  I got to go and spend the day with a few Scrapbooking companies making some really fun projects and this is where we had it!!  Can I just say WOW!!  It was built in the 1800's for wealthy people to come for the good weather and just kept getting bigger as the decades past... And every inch of it is

just amazing and gorgeous!!  I love, love, love old things can't you tell?  Anyway it was a perfect day and I had lots of fun with Kelly and we had a fabulous lunch and made a big mess and had lots and lots of fun......

Amazing trip to Zion...

Here is just a few of the many photos from our trip to Zion this

last weekend.  I love taking nature photos and a unexpected

snowstorm on friday dumped lots of snow our way and it was

just amazing to take pictures of and surprisingly it wasn't really

very cold even though it looks that way. 

This is the hike at the top of the valley.  It runs along the river for about

a mile and a half and then you can go into the narrows.  We 

are going to be back in summer to hike through the water for that :)

I just love the way the red rocks, snow and blue sky look together

for this one.  It is such a cool place because as the sun moves then

the lights change and everything is just more gorgeous!!

I have this same shot in fall too looking up to the top of the valley

and it looks so different in the snow.

This photo is at the top of the valley on the other side of the tunnel.

We drove through to see this fabulous winter wonderland and lots

of waterfalls on the rocks.  The flakes were huge too and later 

that day it turned into little tiny hail balls and it looked like the inside

of a bean bag chair.  It was just so breathtaking for a Cali girl :)

Over at the Bellagio in Vegas they have a huge garden inside

and at the back of the front desk and the theme this time 

was butterflies.  They had all my most favorite flowers everywhere 

by the 100's and a green house filled with gorgeous butterflies everywhere. 

 It smelled so good from all the flowers that were everywhere.

This picture is the view from our room in the Paris.  We got an

upgrade and I guess the women at the desk liked us because

this was just amazing!!  We even got to watch the fountains

of the Bellagio from our room and the weather was alot warmer

than in Zion.  It was a super awesome, restfull, wonderful trip!
