Basic Grey page maps

I need to catch up on some photos from last year and this page
map this week from Basic Grey was quick and easy
and came out just the way I wanted it to.
The papers are from the new Nordic Holiday line
and the snowflakes are hand cut from a Best Creation paper that
I had in my stash for something special.

Title is: Just Chillen by the Lake

I changed the sketch by putting the snowflakes
where the photos would be and put my title in
2 places.  I needed the chillen to pop a little more
so I added some enamel accents to the top of the
letters to make them look a little more frozen. I also
went around all the edges with chalk ink and used
a dark brown pen to go around the center square.

I used a martha stewart snowflake punch for the borders
and added Icicle stickles on the snowflakes to make them
glisten like the snow did that day at the lake.  It was really
fun hiking around and it was really cold too!

I have some fun cards I am doing too and will post
in a couple of days when I get some good photos...

Thanks for stopping by,

September Card Club

It's time again for card club and this was a really fun class to
do because it is the beginning of a wonderful new holiday season
and there is lots of glitter and sparkles available to use for everything.
I used some of the new embossing powders, glitters and stamps from
Stampendous called Frantage' and it has a really old world
elegance to it.  I have a few more vintage hat stamps and a key
that they came out with to do still and will post them soon.

Here are some close ups of the glitter...

if you click on the images you can see it better :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Out of my league.....

It was sad to read the list of new designers on the teams
and not have my name up there but today at church
I was reminded that life doesn't always happen the
way you want it to.  Sometimes there is other things
waiting out there for you so you just have to keep looking.
...and as disappointed as I was in not making a team
I am still happy that i have the coolest job
in the world getting to work with every paper
company out there on the planet and making fun projects
and teaching classes for people who really like what i do....
guess that is what I am supposed to be doing right :)

so moving ahead with a big smile
and a very happy heart now...

My favorite time of year is almost here and
I cannot wait to go pick apples and pumpkins soon...

These really pretty papers are from Creative Imaginations.
I originally got them to scrap photos when I go apple
and pear picking but thought this was fun and I will
just get a few more sheets...

I got to play with the new cookbook papers from
Crate paper and love the colors of this line.
Good down home country colors with a little bit
of my favorite color turquoise.

This came out crooked and crazy but that is how I felt
so i just kept it that way...  I will have to give this to my
sister... she will appreciate the silliness of it :)

Have a wonderful day

Tallships Festival at Dana Point

It's hard to believe that it has been a year but it was
time again to see the Tallships sail in and do battle at Dana Point.
There were 8 ships this year and the one on the top right
is still all original so that was pretty neat.  It was kind of cloudy so the
photos came out a little grey but i think it makes them look older.

I used a filter to get the rays of the sun show
up in this photo.  It would have been amazing if the
boats could have sailed through the light in just
the right way but sadly it didn't happen....

This boat belongs to the Ocean Institute and is called
the Brig Pilgrim..  I love all the sails on this one. You
can actually learn to sail this boat and I think I am
going to add this to my bucket list of things to do!!

I went to get something to drink while we were waiting
on the jetty and took this picture coming back.. There
were lots of people watching the boats out there this year!

This is all the boats docked so that people can tour
them.  They also have a huge pirate gathering and
a show on the Pilgrim.  It's fun to see and fun to
feel like what it was like along time ago!!

Basic Grey Monday Sketch

Hi Everyone,
I was gone all weekend and almost forgot to post
my take on the Monday Sketch for Basic Grey.
I was up in Sacramento a few weeks back and took these
photos of some beautiful Victorian Houses in the Historic
district downtown and thought it worked pretty good.  The papers are
from my stash and are from the Aged and Confused line...
I thought the blues and greys would give it an old time
look and I added extra brown and charcoal chalk to make
it pop more.. The flowers are made from Sizzix dies :)

Thanks for stopping by....

Basic Grey Cards

Happy Sunday Everyone!!

Today I just wanted to share some cards that
I made out some of my Basic Grey Stash with all of you...
I picked lots of bright cheerful prints that made me
happy and smile and used lots of punches and
embossing folders to add more texture to them.

This is my first card and favorite because I love all these colors
together.... This was a really fun card to make because I layered
it alot with both stickers and my favorite transparencys.  The corners
on the pink are done with a corner punch and the rosettes
are from Basic Grey too.  Don't you love that cute little bird?

For this card I used one of the 6x6 pads with
the smaller prints, an embossing folder for a
little added dimension, tags, and some of the new flowers
that are both paper and printed canvas. These were
really fun to scrunch and ink and layer and the matching
brads added the perfect finishing touch to the flowers.

I don't normally like greens and yellows but this
was fun to make.  I used a scallop Ek punch
for the right side and Ek flower punches for the
flowers with the pearls.   The saying I created on my
computer and chalked it and added some extra
light brown chalk ink around the edges to antique it
up just a little more.  I am going to have to send this
to my grandma.  It reminds me so much of her!

This card I really like too! The new Indie Bloom
papers have the prettiest brightest colors and
they go together to make some really beautiful
projects..  The thinking of you on this card is from the
tag set and it really popped when I added the
black and white dot pattern and matching ribbon.
The orange and pink frame in the backround is
made with a spellbinders frame die.

Lastly today is this fun card I did with one
of the 6x6 pads from Out of Print.  I used little bits of
all the patterns to create all the different layers from the embossing
folder to the spellbinders die on that and to the
flowers that I punched and made for the spray on
the top. I love the soft colors and tiny prints on
these papers and can't wait to do some more today!!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave a
comment to let me know what you think :)

and don't forget to say prayers for the families
of those that lost members in the attacks on 9/11
Our hearts go out to all of you and like they all say...
No we will never forget....

Doodlebug Halloween

I am a huge fan of Doodlebug and when I came across
a stamp store in Elk Grove (Stampers Corner)
that carried all of their products (I was so impressed)
both old and new I stocked up on all the fun things they had!!

I love how everything works together and they have these
adorable little adhesive characters from all the different
collections called doodle pops.  Soooo cute!! I had so much
fun using this line with all the great colors it has in it!!
My first project is this Memo Board-
For this project I purchased a corkboard with a frame
and painted the edges black and added lots
of fun borders and papers to it in strips.  I used a stamp edged
punch for the rectangles around the top inside edge
and put that cute little bat on the side :)

I always love using the tags for cards and
what not but these went perfect to decorate
the top and bottom of this board...

If you haven't gotten any baker's twine this is
a must have!!  There are so many colors available
and it gives your projects that little extra something
that ordinary ribbons can't give to a project...

I love this little card.. To make it I cut strips and angled
them for the backround.  Then I added a cute piece of
the spiderweb paper and matted it in white. I cut 2- 1/4"
stripes and glued them down and added one of the tags
over that.  Next I used one the new little green alien pops
and put him next to the trick or treat bag and added a
cute little happy halloweeen message!!  Whaa la, it's done!
Don't you just love his little jiggly eyes?

These little guys are sooo cute!  I would love to make
these for an invitation because it just screams come
to my party and have a good time right?

For some crazy reason my camera did not do this
page justice but the closeup color is better.  I added
a little distressing on the edges and a few of the tags
for color.  I love the purple and black spider paper,
it is just so very cute!!  Hope you all get some
of this cute paper to do your Halloween pages this
year... It is really fun to work with !!

Thanks for stopping by and have a really great day!

Hugs,  Teresa

Just Catching up on Life....

We went up to Elk Grove last week and got to take
a detour down to Monteray Bay and it was gorgeous.
The weather was pretty cold there by the ocean but
it was really nice to visit again...
They added alot more to the Aquarium since the last time
we went there and we even got to see dolphins, seals and the
cutest sea otters on the planet out in front of the aquarium
in big groups playing and eating.  That was the best!!

These jellyfish just amaze me how they are so beautiful yet so deady.
I caught a Japanese Man of War once on a stick at the beach when I was little once.
My dad wasn't too happy about it when I dragged it over to show him and
explained it could kill me if it stung me.. so we buried it deep in the sand
so that it wouldn't hurt anyone else..

This Aquarium had lots of seahorses of all kinds and colors.
Still love this one from Australia the best though :)
They are just beautiful!!

This photo is the coolest tank.  It is actually in a circle
and the sardines swim round and round you above your head
in a huge school..  It was amazing!!

They also had lots of sea turtles.  One
tank had 2 smaller ones like the photo
above and the other had bigger, older ones.  And the Sundae you see at the left was from Ghirardelli Ice Cream shop on the wharf.  They make their own sauces so I can say this was the best thing I have shared in a long time.... yum!!

The house on the right is from a little town up a ways from the wharf.  It belonged to the town doctor and his family and actually stayed in the family for 3 generations from the 1850's.  This one and the house next to it are just beautiful and in perfect condition.  I have more photos
of some really pretty houses in downtown Sacrament and will post those in a couple of days.  The bottom picture is the sunset on our last night.  It was really fun and I can't wait to go back up there again soon!

Thanks for stopping by,
Teresa
